Why LecShare Pro?  For whom?
For beginners, especially for faculty members who do not need complex multimedia capabilities, and who want to produce multimedia that is comfortably web-accessible to those with visual or hearing disabilities - people whose Web use may depend on screen reading software.

Easy for Beginners
LecShare Pro is an excellent tool for someone just beginning to produce Web-accessible multimedia. LecShare Pro is unusually easy to learn and use.  Several other tools are now available for creating Web-accessible files that include PowerPoint slides (text and images) and audio synchronized to them.  Most others are much more powerful, flexible, complex and expensive.  Learning and using LecShare Pro first is also good preparation for evaluating, selecting, and learning to use more powerful options.

Produce 4 Kinds of Files Simultaneously
You have many choices about the characteristics of the final file(s) produced as a result of your work:  it is easy and quick to produce 4 different versions in one final step.  Each of these versions can be especially useful for a slightly different purpose.  (See "Examples of Multiple Formats Produced Simultaneously, Easily" using LecShare Pro.)  LecShare Pro allows you to add audio to Microsoft PowerPoint presentations to create QuickTime movies, MPEG-4 Video files (Video Podcasts), Accessible HTML, and Microsoft Word documents. You can either record audio through a microphone or import audio files.  This software depends on having a PowerPoint file available for slides and images.

Accessibility for Those with Limited Vision
LecShare Pro is exceptional in the way it supports producing results that are accessible to those with visual impairments who depend on screen reading software.  LecShare Pro has a feature to both show you where you need to modify slides and provide you with easy options for fixing them.  Several of the resulting files produced by LecShare Pro can be comfortably used by someone dependent on screen reading tools.  If you include enough supplementary text in the "Lecture Notes" section of the original PowerPoint slide file, one of the resulting export files can work well for those with hearing disabilities too.

A Few Hints for Beginners - First Use of LecShare Pro

Be sure that Microsoft PowerPoint and Word are both CLOSED when you begin using LecShare Pro.

Red bars - Alternative Text
LecShare Pro indicates the need for "alternative text" for photos or images with a red bar.  Click on a slide that has been identified as needing "alternative text" so that the slide appears in the upper right window.  Then double-click on the red bar in that area.

30 days only; reduced export options;  "watermark" appears on each slide in exported version (see sample result here);  works perfectly well otherwise.  Quite adequate for first usage within TLT Group workshop about 5-Minute eClips & Brief Hybrid Workshops.  When opening or using the Free Trial version you will be asked each time to "register" the software. Each time you should answer "no" or click "cancel" and that will be acceptable for the 30 days.

Download LecShare Pro Free Trial Converter:  If you are using the free trial version of LecShare Pro and need to make the result of your work available as a video via YouTube, you should use this additional free converter.  When you have finished using LecShare Pro to fix visual accessibility and add audio narration to your PowerPoint slides, first export the work as a QuickTime file.  Then run the converter on that file.  The resulting file is suitable for easy upload to YouTube.
