Instructions for Activity
First, read
Edward Hallowell's  "Connectedness" chapter  from Finding the Heart of the Child:  Essays on Children, Families, and Schools by Hallowell, M.D. and Michael G. Thompson, Ph.D.  ]  The “Connectedness Categories” listed in the left column of the table below are from Hallowell’s essay.  Also see:  Edward  Hallowell's Website

Mark (e.g., with an "X") those categories that are important to you.
Add your own categories if you wish.

When you have finished marking the important categories, indicate (e.g., with an "S") which of them you believe might be supported in some way by using information technology; and indicate (e.g., with a "U") which of them you fear might be undermined in some way by using information technology.  You might place an "S" and a "U" in the same box for some categories.  If you are especially interested in purely online courses, use "SO" and "UO" in the same way as above;  i.e., mark with "SO" those categories of people and connectedness that could be well-supported in a purely online course, and use "UO" to indicate the categories that would be most difficult to support in a purely online course.
