President, The TLT Group

There are hundreds of worthwhile ways of helping those whose lives have been severely disrupted by hurricanes Katrina and Rita, but this is a great opportunity to contribute directly to helping some students, faculty, and staff in Louisiana who will continue to need our support well beyond the first weeks of this disaster.

Please tell your friends and colleagues who might also want to support this kind of effort.

WHY I RECOMMEND THIS OPTION

David Boudreaux, VP Institutional Advancement of Nicholls State University (NSU) in Thibodaux is the individual within Louisiana whom we have known the longest and relied upon most for many aspects of the work of the TLT Group. His high professional standards as a scholar, teacher, and academic leader are complemented by his extraordinary personal integrity and values. And his “academic Cajun humor” has enriched many of our activities.

Never before has he asked us for any help.

Here are some excerpts from his letter asking for help:

“Anyone wanting to assist college and university students who have literally lost almost everything (homes, cars, computers, books, clothing, etc) can make a donation to the NSU Foundation, student relief fund. Every contribution will go to assisting students to return to school this semester. The state of Louisiana is waiving tuition and academic fees for all students who were enrolled in a New Orleans area state university or college, and Nicholls has already enrolled a significant number. Additionally, almost 1000 of our students come from that area, and they have lost a great deal. These students need help to pay for dorms, books, food, and clothing.

“I understand that this is an unusual request. But this is a situation the likes of which this nation has never seen. If you can provide any help with disseminating this information, I will deeply appreciate it

“Thank you so much.
Warm regards to all.
David"

9/28 Email from Boudreaux:
"...While Rita was not as devastating as Katrina, it has really hurt our students who live in the
southern ends of the parishes of Lafourche, Terrebonne, and St. Mary, our three main service areas. The winds were not as damaging as the water, which in many cases destroyed their homes and automobiles. So our work has increased.

Your efforts and friendship help me to stay energized. Thank you again.
David
