Fall of Communism - Spring 2003 - Part I

This survey is designed to discover how students' experiences in this course were patterned by the use of bulletin boards.

This survey is not to judge you or the class but to provide objective information about the general attitudes of students toward technology. I would very much like you to focus on your experience using the technology. Please do not view this survey as an evaluation of the individual class or individual instructor (you have a separate survey for that). As much as possible, think of the general conclusions that you can draw about the nature of your experience in this course rather that the specific strengths or weaknesses of the course content or the instructor. Compare your experiences in this class with experiences you have had in other upper- or lower-division lecture classes.

Take the time to answer these questions honestly and sincerely. If you alter your answers to say what you think I want to hear, you will distort the study. To receive extra credit you only have to do the survey.

Responses will be kept confidential; I will not read them until after the final grades are done and I cannot link your name to specific responses. However, I need to know if you did the survey, so don't forget to enter your name on question 12 or you will not receive the extra credit. Make sure also to do all the other surveys.

When you are finished responding click "submit survey" at the bottom of the page so your responses can be recorded. Thanks!!

Think about a similar course you have taken that relied primarily on face-to-face discussions. Compared to that course, because of the way this course uses Electronic Communication (computers linked for information exchanges, such as computer conferences, bulletin boards, and electronic mail):
