Accreditation and Program Review Main Page
In addition to periodic Online Institute workshops for
self-study teams, The TLT Group offers several other kinds
of support for institutions that would like to use
self-studies (accreditation or program review) as an
occasion for a productive evaluation that can guide
improvement of teaching and learning (with technology).
Tools:
Flashlight Online
is a web-based system shared by over 100 educational
institutions. It includes almost 500 survey items in the
Current Student Inventory so it can be a powerful tool for
studying the influence of technology use on instructional
effectiveness and retention, as well as for studying
technology support and training. Flashlight Online also
includes a growing library of survey templates, some of them
submitted and peer-reviewed by other users. Finally,
because Flashlight Online is used by so many institutions,
authoring workspaces can be shared by multiple institutions
if, for example, an accrediting program wanted to help
different institutions share surveys or a system wanted to
support collaboration among campuses.
-
Flashlight Online 2.0 enables
institutions to create flexible, focused surveys and
other online forms. Using
matrix surveys and conditional questions (e.g.,
branching, skip patterns), you can study a technology,
teaching idea, or program (e.g., hybrid courses) that
takes different shapes in the hands of different faculty
and students. To talk about how you might use Flashlight
Online 2.0 in your self-study, please contact us at

Consulting and training: Get an
early start - we suggest starting at least 2 years before a
site visit, in order to gather data, make improvements, and
then evaluate the impact of those improvements ('closing the
loop'). Whether you're planning a self-study for regional
accreditation or for professional accreditation (e.g., ABET,
NCATE, nursing), our consultants can help you focus on
issues key to your particular program -- outcomes,
strategies, costs, potential problems. We can educate your
staff, help you create plans, or provide feedback for plans
or surveys you've drafted. We can provide an outside set of
eyes to help you interpret data. Or we can provide training
or support for your internal team.
Examples of TLT Group
work:
-
University of Central Florida – The TLT Group has
advised on their self-study of
information fluency
-
University of South Carolina - Assistance with training,
tools in support of SACS self-study
Institutional subscriptions: Network members get
Flashlight Online, discounts for online workshops, two free
days of consulting/training, and discounts on additional
days. A
Network subscription is by far the most cost-effective
way to use our help for your self-study.
