SESSION OVERVIEW/SUMMARY
Event   FridayLive!  Featured Guest:
Cindy Russell from UTHSC

Dates   March 9, 2007
Time   2pm Eastern U.S. Time Zone
Session Focus   Help participants understand educational potential of Google Docs & Spreadsheets and evaluate a variety of  their educational uses for college and university teaching/learning.
Pre-requisites    During our session on March 9, we will NOT offer explicit introductions to the "nuts and bolts" of Google Docs & Spreadsheets.  This session is NOT designed for those who have absolutely no direct experience with Google Docs & Spreadsheets.  Best, open a Google Docs account, create a new Google Doc or Spreadsheet, and invite some others to "collaborate" - help edit.  For some useful hints and guidance in getting started, see:
Context   We're rapidly approaching a time when almost everyone will have access to the Internet, but only recently have resources emerged that enable almost everyone to do things that were previously impossible or only available to the technologically advanced.

Our ability to collaborate, especially in small teams working together on a single document, has advanced remarkably in the past 2 years.  Google Documents and Spreadsheets are two closely related tools that support this kind of collaboration easily, conveniently, and inexpensively.   We have just begun to explore the educational potential of this kind of collaborative capability!

*NOTE:  Google offers frequent but unpredictable changes and improvements to its freely available resources - including Google Documents and other services available via a free Google Account.  Neither the TLT Group nor any other organization or individual outside of Google can keep fully up to date on these changes.   So, please don't expect that the info you get here will address all of the very latest modifications and features!
