Faculty
Development Symposium
August 5, 12 and 19 September 9 Tuesdays at 1 pm Eastern
Free to subscribers and members;
fee to others.

Why is faculty development
such a low priority at colleges and universities - even in
these times of such rapid growth in the number of attractive
new options that faculty might use to improve teaching and
learning with technology?
Is Faculty
Development an "unfunded mandate?"
These are the preparatory
questions we've asked our invited guest presenters:
What has worked well for you
in the past 5 years? What has been disappointing to you in the past 5 years?
What do you hope to be doing in the next 2 to 5 years?
We have invited you in part
because we believe that some of your important work has
already contributed in some valuable ways to some of the
following themes that underlie the TLT Groups interests in
faculty development and faculty support:
-
Collaboration across boundaries
-
Diversity
among students and faculty
-
Productive
assessment and evaluation
-
Compassionate Pioneering
|
We've chosen to call this series
a "Symposium" because we want to encourage both our invited
presenters and all participants to share ideas, information,
resources, recommendations, and ask questions. We will also
be raising some specific questions about the TLT Group's
plans for online and hybrid faculty development and
professional development activities during this academic
year. We look forward to learning a lot about how we should
shape our future activities. We hope to do so by learning
from the questions you ask, the needs you describe, and the
resources you recommend.
