Want to get together with others from around the
world who are interested in using assessment to improve
learning? Washington DC in November would be a good time!
The TLT Group coordinates its work with a
number of associations, including the
International Society for the
Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. In November 2006
ISSOTL's annual meeting will be held in Washington DC. Prof.
Randy Bass of Georgetown University chairs the program
committee. We attended last year's conference in Vancouver
- it was great and drew hundreds of participants from many
countries. This year's meeting could draw 1000 participants;
proposals are due very soon: May 1, 2006.
The theme of this year's meeting fits well with
The TLT Group's work, "Making a Greater Difference: Contributing
to Transformation." As the
call
for proposals asks, "How do broader currents of change in
education influence how the scholarship of teaching and learning
gets practiced, developed, and promoted? And conversely, how
does the scholarship of teaching and learning make a difference
in multiple educational contexts and explicitly contribute to
broader agendas?" Teaching and learning with technology is
singled out as a topic of interest.
ISSOTL's conference could be a great place for
many of us to get together for some informal interactions - if
you're coming please let us know to help us plan some events of
our own.
Please consider submitting a proposal and, in any case, we hope
you will consider attending ISSOTL 2006 this fall! Contact
