The TLT Group has developed two
collections of ideas for teaching and learning with
technology:
-
The 'seven
principles of good practice' (originally formulated by
Chickering and Gamson) are activities that tend to
produce better learning outcomes; that's according to
both decades of educational research and faculty common
sense. Working with subscribing institutions, we
have collected a
large library of ideas
for teaching and learning with technology, organized by
the seven principles, and available only to staff and
students at our subscriber institutions. Many of these
ideas are 'low threshold.'
-
We have a
collection of well-documented 'low threshold'
applications and activities, edited by Charles
Ansorge of the University of Nebraska.
-
We have begun developing
a set of
technology-enabled teaching techniques that are
particularly useful in responding to diversity among
learners in academic programs and faculty workshops.
|
In addition we
highly recommend the resources catalogued by
MERLOT, many of them
peer-reviewed by disciplinary panels. (Note: if your
institution is a subscriber of MERLOT and wants a TLT Group
subscription, or vice versa, you get a 10% discount on both
subscriptions). MERLOT resources are freely available
to all. An institutional subscription to MERLOT, however,
enables faculty to learn far more by participating as peer
reviewers and using other MERLOT resources.
Note to
subscribers: You may want to post the URL for this page
on own institution's web page of ideas for improving
teaching and learning.
