Althea Jenkins is a long
time, trusted and delightful friend of the TLT Group.
Here is a brief biography which only scratches the surface
of her accomplishments.
Dr.
Althea H. Jenkins is a retired librarian and educator.
Prior to retirement Dr. Jenkins was Director of University
Libraries for the Florida State University; Executive
Director of the Association of College and Research
Libraries, a Division of the American Library Association,
Library Director at the University of South Florida,
Sarasota/New College campus, and Library Director and
professor at Miami-Dade Community College. Jenkins received
her doctorate degree in Higher Education Administration from
Nova Southeastern University and holds a masters degree in
Library Science from the Florida State University. At Miami
Dade Jenkins was an adjunct professor in the Division of
Education. She also taught academic library administration
courses as an adjunct professor at the School of Library and
Information Science at the University of South Florida.
Jenkins
is an active and long-standing member/ leader of several
professional organizations. Among them are: the American
Library Association (ALA), the National Science Foundation
(NSF) National Science Digital Libraries (NSDL); Association
of College and Research Libraries (ACRL), and the
Southeastern Libraries Network (SOLINET).
