David E. Boudreaux, Ph.D.
Vice President for Institutional Advancement
Nicholls State University
David E. Boudreaux joined the Nicholls State University faculty in 1967 as an instructor
of English just prior to being called to active duty. After spending nearly two years in
the U. S. Army, Boudreaux returned to Nicholls, where he has spent his entire academic
career. He served as department head for the Department of English for seventeen years
before being appointed dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. This fall he was
appointed Vice President for Institutional Advancement.
Boudreaux has been active in the implementation of the use of technology
in teaching and learning for the past eighteen years. As head of the English Department,
he introduced the first computer-assisted writing classroom to the university. Shortly
after that, when the administration directed him to design a writing-across-
the-curriculum program, he designed a technology-based writing center that has expanded to
become the focal point for student writing on campus.
An early adopter of the Teaching, Learning, and Technology Roundtable
program, Boudreaux has been involved with the TLT concept since Steve Gilbert visited
Nicholls in the fall of 1994. Since that time, Boudreaux has served as a facilitator,
cluster leader, and presenter. Known for his gentle Cajun humor, he is an author and
co-editor of the TLT Workbook, and he chairs the Nicholls State University Roundtable.
