John R. Farrell, Jr., Ed.D., CCP
Vice President for Administrative Services
Union County College

Dr. John R. (Jack) Farrell, Jr., is Vice President for Administrative Services and Executive Assistant to the President at Union County College, Cranford, New Jersey. He is a senior executive with thirty-three years of Community College experience. He has served in a Chief Information Officer capacity under various titles since 1965.

As Vice President for Administrative Services he oversees an integrated strategy for academic and administrative computing, information systems and telecommunications. He is also responsible for the Non-Credit Division of the College and serves on College-wide Strategic and Master Planning Committees.

Dr. Farrell currently serves as Vice President of the New Jersey Inter-Campus Network (NJIN) Board of Trustees and has been a member of various NJIN task forces and committees. Dr. Farrell has presented at NJIN and other State and national conferences on networking, voice technology, and student information systems. Dr. Farrell organized and chaired the Teaching, Learning & Technology Roundtable initiative for NJIN.

In his tenure at Union County College he has developed a multi-campus electronic infrastructure and computer support system, which enables students, faculty and staff to access extensive library, computer based applications and College information resources in a seamless networking environment.

He has organized a customized faculty and staff development program in support of technological literacy including the implementation of a Self-directed Learning Center, a Faculty/Staff Computer Resource Center and a Help Desk Service.

Jack received a BS degree in Economics from St. Peter's College and Ed.M. and Ed.D. degrees in Adult and Continuing Education from Rutgers University. He holds certification from the Institute for Certification of Computer Professionals in the field of Information Systems Management.
