Naomi Okumura Story, Ph.D. As District Director of Learning, Instruction, and Assessment, Naomi Okumura Story has led systemic transformation and instructional innovations across the Maricopa Community College District, the largest system in the country. Dr. Story also directs the Maricopa Center for Learning and Instruction (MCLI) which works closely with faculty and administrators to foster learning and instructional technology innovations and educational change across the district. The MCLI is also a national model for faculty leadership and discourse on learning in the community colleges. Dr. Story facilitates several district-wide agendas on teaching and learning, faculty development, instructional technology, curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment. She often works on national initiatives with organizations such as the American Council on Education, American Association for Higher Education, The TLT Group, and The League for Innovation. She has also made numerous presentations in systemic change, community building, leadership development and cultural diversity. Although she has written on instructional design and technologies; most recently, she has published articles on Asian Pacific American issues.
Originally from Hawaii, she has lived in Arizona since
1980. Dr. Story aspires to be a full-time faculty and writer. She has an understanding
husband and two very creative daughters. |
