Perspective:
We have a long-standing
commitment to:
-
being attuned to “what matters most” to educators (and to other
human beings we admire and love).
-
providing insightful, useful material for educators, regardless
of the latest intellectual fads.
-
meaningful collaboration,
treating all relevant constituencies with respect.
-
exploring, in a civil manner, Dangerous Discussions (topics
about which people might hold strong, but dissenting, opinions
or might feel uncomfortable sharing opinions).
-
identifying “user friendly” technologies, especially LTAs, (low
threshold activities) which others use for sound educational
purposes, selecting what works regardless of vendor.
-
integrating thoughtful use of evidence and assessment.
|
Structure:
We advocate, demonstrate, and depend on
hybrid combinations of:
-
online and offline activities.
-
synchronous and asynchronous
activities.
-
how-to-use and why-to-use examples
of technology.
-
people who represent different roles and points
of view.
|
|
Individuals:
We are characterized as:
-
being an organization of and for
"Compassionate Pioneers"!
-
attracting and engaging a
remarkable collection of talented, thoughtful, non-crazy people who
like to work with us.
-
having workshop leaders who know
how to convey challenging material in a clear and non-threatening
manner.
-
creating an environment in which participants can
interact easily with each other and with the leaders.

Online Institute Workshops:
All
of the TLT Group’s online offerings include
- real-time
participation from the attenders - both chat and VOIP
- options for
participants with a range of experience
- facilitators who
are energetic about exploring the medium and who
match the information
technology tools they use to the content they are providing
- use of “low
threshold” tools,
easy to learn, easy to teach and
inexpensive to obtain and effective.
- examination
of controversial issues. Leaders
and facilitators provide a broader perspective to registrants,
and
- suggestions
for assessment as you integrate what you’ve learned into your
repertoire.
Anyone can register
individually although we encourage teams from institutions.
