Structure:   We advocate, demonstrate, and depend on hybrid combinations of:

• online and offline activities.          

• synchronous and asynchronous activities.         

• how-to-use and why-to-use examples of technology.         

• people and organizations who represent different roles and points of view ("collaborative change").

Individuals:      We are characterized as:  

• a "group" because we include staff, Senior Consultants (who work with us routinely and have a broad knowledge of the work of the whole group), Senior Associates (workshop leaders), people at subscribing institutions, and a huge circle of friends of TLT

• being an organization of and for  "Compassionate Pioneers"

• attracting and engaging a remarkable collection of talented, thoughtful, non-crazy people who like to work with us.      

• having workshop leaders who know how to convey challenging material in a clear and non-threatening manner.      

• creating an environment in which participants can interact easily with each other and with the leaders.    

Partnerships:   We are actively supported in our endeavors by:    

• The Center for Teaching, Learning and Technology at Washington State University, which has been a collaborator in the development and operation of the Flashlight Program since 1993

• Co-sponsor organizations (http://www.tltgroup.org/OLI/Co-Sponsors.htm) which are involved in generating and promoting joint workshops.      

• An Advisory Council of representatives from a range of higher education organizations (http://www.tltgroup.org/AdvisoryCouncil/advisorycouncil.htm).  We confer regularly to help them work with each other and with us, in order to promote collaborative change.
