Using outside experts to
assess program outcomes online; Experiences at Washington
State University
Description: The Center
for Teaching Learning and Technology in partnership with
Career Services has been developing rubrics and using
ePortfolios for the student employment assessment
initiative. This work is gathering peer, WSU employer, and
external (job recruiters) reviews on students' work-learning
portfolios. To simplify the logistics, CTLT is moving its
rubric into online surveys. The presentation will include
other examples of this strategy, including the
online/face-to-face reviewing of the 2008 ePortfolio contest
http://ctlt.wsu.edu/contest07/gallery and
inter-institutional collaboration to review student papers
in joint academic programs. We encourage conversation about
a range of topics, including implications for SoTL,
expanding assessment out of the classroom, and faculty
development, to name a few.

online teaching. The problem is today’s faculty are not

of their discipline not on how to teach online. Our method
of using the ABCs provides a quick and easy 26 strategies
