All TLT Group institutional subscribers get
some prepaid consulting (our generic word for some form of
service) with their subscriptions. One question we're
frequently asked goes something like this: "We've only got
an hour. What can we do with that small amount of time?"
Alternative form of the same question: You're going to be on
campus and we've got a spare hour..."
There seem to be an almost infinite number
of answers to that question. So, rather than list them
all, here are just a few things we'd love to do for
you in an hour or less, on campus or online:
For your TLT Roundtable or other
steering committee and/or for a meeting of your staff
from the various programs that support faculty
(e.g., IT staff; teaching center; library)
* Brief talk plus Q&A on a
"small steps" strategy for improving teaching and
learning with technology: what are you
already doing? What might you try next?
* Brief talk plus Q&A on
using
assessment to guide improvement in teaching and
learning with technology: what are your
options? your strengths? your needs?
* Talk and brainstorming together
about how to foster wider use of technology to
advance the 'seven
principles' (e.g., active learning,
better faculty-student contact...) across the
curriculum.
* Talk and brainstorm together about
how your institution should support a new technology such as
ePortfolios or 'clickers.'
For a group of veteran and novice
faculty, conduct a model
TLT case study seminar, designed to help
prepare them for problems that almost always occur when
faculty change their teaching approach by using
technology.
Run a brief faculty workshop on some
aspect of assessment or evaluation. We
have a list of
such workshops developed or under development.
React to your plans for evaluating a grant proposal involving teaching
and learning with technology; or we could develop an
evaluation plan for your proposal with a couple of hours
of your consulting time. In either case, please give us
at least two weeks notice before your deadline!
Lead an introductory Brief Hybrid
Workshop with a group on your campus.
