The
Flashlight Evaluation Handbook and Current Student
Inventory
includes advice on study design, articles on
methods, case studies, and an indexed library of almost
500 validated questions for surveys, interviews, and
focus groups. This edition is sent to subscribers in
hard copy, with much of its also sent on CD-ROM.
The second edition of the Handbook, now
almost complete, includes about fifteen
specialized guides for using data to improve practice
(e.g., classroom assessment, using data to get more
value from course management systems, using data to get
more value from eportfolios, accreditation self-studies,
etc.).

Flashlight Online is a Web-based system for
creating, administering and analyzing surveys.
Authors can search almost 500 validated items from the
Flashlight Current Student Inventory, copy from a
growing library of peer-reviewed surveys, and/or write
their own questions. Subscribing institutions can
create an unlimited number of free authoring accounts
for their staff and students. Flashlight Online can be
used for program evaluation, accreditation studies,
studies of the effectiveness of IT support services,
quality assurance for distance learning programs, and
studies by faculty of individual courses.

Comprehensive Collection).
