Some projects and departments get a Network
subscription because it's the least expensive way to use
TLT Group consulting or training (if they need more than
a day's worth). Others subscribe at the Network
level because they realize that, with the
consulting/training help, their department (or whole
institution) is likely to make much more use of TLT
Group subscriber materials, tools such as Flashlight
Online, and workshops. And still others join in
order to take a leadership role; Network members may
become involved in grant proposals and early beta
testing of new products and materials.

With Network
affiliation, everyone at your institution
can benefit from:
-
Two days of consulting/training from TLT Group
staff
and Senior Associates; get more days
at substantial discounts from regular
rates. (Institutions have used as many
as 150 consulting days a year;
this 8-minute narrated slideshow
mentions just a few ways in which past
subscribers have used our consulting and
suggests ways to pay for a subscription.)
Training/consulting is usually delivered through
a mix of on-site visits and online
interaction. Naming just a few
possibilities -- we can:
-
deliver a keynote for your faculty
institute;
-
plan the external evaluation,
faculty training or national
outreach for your next grant
proposal involving educational uses
of technology;
-
offer train-the-trainer workshops to
help faculty learn to use student
evidence to improve teaching
-
help you evaluate your current
institutional strategies and
resources for improving teaching and
learning and develop new strategies
that reach and engage more faculty;
-
reduce conflict and overlap by
helping you organize a TLT
Roundtable and a virtual teaching,
learning and technology center;
-
help you evaluate
current learning spaces and
facilities (classrooms, course
management systems) and plan for the
future;
-
provide support for
your general education reform by
helping them learn about how
technology is figuring in evolving
goals and strategies at other
institutions;
-
help your faculty
evaluate and improve their hybrid
courses, blended courses, online
courses...

Option:
If your institution finds it doesn't
need some of those consulting hours, it
can carry the over for one more year or exchange
them for free registrations for the
Online Institute
workshops of your choice.
-
Flashlight
Online (free accounts and unlimited surveys for
everyone at your institution):
Don't start your surveys and online
forms from a blank page! Using this
unique web-based survey system, you can
adapt surveys created by colleagues
(including authors at other Flashlight
Online institutions). Flashlight Online
also comes with dozens
of model surveys, templates, and an item bank with almost 500
validated questions for evaluating academic programs --
great for teaching improvement and
self-studies. Flashlight
Online can be used for teaching improvement, course
evaluation, accreditation self-studies,
and as a general purpose survey system.
To see the surveys, item banks and other
tools that Flashlight Online 1.0 offers,

Flashlight Online 2.0
can also be used for large-scale student
course evaluation, including creation of
thousands of different student response
forms uniquely tailored for the
characteristics of each course), for
creating rubrics, and for exciting new
approaches to social and educational
research. This powerful new online
system is now in beta test at a dozen
Network member institutions. When
it's released, your institution can use
both 1.0 and 2.0 at no extra charge.
